Prepared and packaged food isn't something you should live off, but we all need something quick, easy and convienient sometimes.  

Lazy dinner for me tonight! I couldn't be bothered cooking. Sometimes we need convenience and I think it's important to point out that not all packaged food is bad (clean eaters shriek!!) All you have to do is read the ingredients, and if the list is relatively short and mostly whole foods (see below) then it's okay for times when you can't cook. For example this is the ingredients in this prepared dinner: Water, Vegetables (43%) (Capsicum, Zucchini, Onion, Eggplant, Tomato) Arborio Rice (14%), Olive Oil, Herbs, Salt, Garlic, Pepper. Not too bad for an easy & quick dinner, sure beats greasy take away!

FYI- whole foods definition: 
'Whole foods are foods that are unprocessed and unrefined, or processed and refined as little as possible, before being consumed. Whole foods typically do not contain added, carbohydrates (sugars), or fat. Examples of whole foods include whole grains, beans, fruits, vegetables and non-homogenized dairy products'
