Did The last 4 days of Easter get a little out of control?! It's okay to indulge every now and then, the key is to recognise, stop and get back in control. Replenish your body by getting a load of nutrients, fibre, vitamins, minerals and hydration back in. Do this by setting some goals to sick to - Here are my top 4
1- Throw out any remaining easter treats - the chocolate eggs, the hot cross buns , etc. And then go for a supermarket shop, re-stocking the house with fresh whole foods. Buy some fruit, lots of veggies, grains (brown rice, quinoa, oats etc), wholemeal bread, some fresh fish/seafood, some legumes (chickpeas, lentils, beans), fresh lean meats/poultry, avocado, hummus, nuts, plain natural yohgurt, plain rice/corn cakes. You can make plenty of meals and snacks out of nutritious wholefoods
2- When you get a sweet craving in the afternoon or after dinner, swap it for a piece of fruit, or a mix of fruit and nuts. For example: In the afternoon reach for a banana. And after dinner have a big handful of berries and small handful of almonds. Getting some natural sugars and healthy fats in that actually provide nutrients and vitamins!
3- Get your 5+ serves of veggies in a day, this might mean 3 different veggies at lunch in a salad and 3 different veggies cooked with dinner. Or you could use the 1-2-3 method, where you have at least: 1 vegetable included in your breakfast, 2 veggies with your lunch, and 3 veggies with your dinner. Vegetables are low calorie and packed with nutrients, fibre, vitamins and minerals. Here
are some great ways to get some more veggies in your meals
4- Drink water only for the next week - Drink plenty of water and ditch the alcohol, soft drinks, juice + other sugar drinks. Aim for 2-3 litres a day, spread out over the day. Set reminders! Or have a large glass before each meal of the day. Water hydrates us, aiding digestion, metabolism, waste removal, gives us energy and much more.
This will all help to replenish your body, naturally flushing out your system and get you back on track.
